As Founder and CEO of The Safe Haven Project I want to welcome each of you to our site.

Over twenty years ago, like many of us, I was first introduced to HIV / AIDS and its effect on our lives through a young boy named Ryan White.  It was such a compelling story.  His fight against a disease, his fight against discrimination and hatred and his need to prove that he was no different than any of us in spite of his illness was overwhelming.

The day he died I remember sitting in front of the T.V. watching CNN, and when I heard the news I was overcome with passion. Not because I knew him – I didn’t – and not because I knew anyone that had AIDS.  I was moved because I knew in my heart that no child or teen should ever be subjected to the alienation and hatred he experienced.
