Camp Safe Haven/U.K. CHIVA Exchange
Camp Safe Haven and The Children’s HIV Association (CHIVA) of the U.K. and Ireland have partnered to present an exciting exchange program for young leaders and youth living with HIV / AIDS.
The Children’s HIV Association (CHIVA) is an association of professionals who are committed to providing excellence in the care of children infected or affected by HIV and their families.
CHIVA Projects is the wing of CHIVA that undertakes direct work with children, young people and families on a national level. The projects includes supporting the CHIVA Youth Committee, the development of this website and a summer camp for HIV positive 13-17 year olds.
Each year, 10 Camp Safe Haven campers will travel to the United Kingdom to attend a CHIVA Summer Camp for teens 13-17 living with HIV / AIDS. In exchange, 10 CHIVA teen campers will attend Camp Safe Haven programs in Martha’s Vineyard and Asheville, NC. Three to five volunteer positions will be made available for Camp Safe Haven Camp Counselors at the CHIVA camps for any of our volunteers who would like to serve in the United Kingdom. Camp Safe Haven will return that gesture to CHIVA volunteers.
