Future Programs
The Safe Haven Project is dedicated to making itself available as time and resources allow, making an impact where our services are requested and needed. During each year, Safe Haven presents its mission to various audiences through our speaking engagements, and interacts with collegial organizations around the nation and other parts of the world.
North Dakota
Safe Haven is in discussions with potential major funders associated with the booming oil industry in western North Dakota. As CEO Dave Butler has been living in North Dakota for 3 years, Safe Haven has had exposure through schools, newspapers, television, and presentations at churches, the Lions Club, and other civic organizations. Safe Haven has been approached by a potential donor to open a Safe Haven camp in North Dakota in 2012 or shortly thereafter. Camp Safe Haven North Dakota will specialize in serving as a retreat style program on a ranch and offering participants opportunities to experience the rugged and beautiful countryside and prairie of North Dakota. Participants will be flown in from cities to be determined at a later time.
Michigan
Safe Haven Nursing Director Linda Fasci has been in discussion with the Children’s Hospital of Detroit regarding potential opportunities for Camp Safe Haven in Michigan. Linda has received a very enthusiastic response from the health care providers about the need for such a program. Currently, Detroit Children’s Hospital can commit to 80 HIV+ children and youth from their city should a camp open in Michigan. Safe Haven is currently researching and in discussion with various donors and locations to operate the program. Decisions will be made during the 2011 year as to the feasibility of the operation.
