Serve, Learn & Empower Ghana
Dominase, Ghana
Program 1: June 23-July 9, 2012
Program 2: July 21-August 6, 2012

The Safe Haven Project’s Serve & Learn program provides high school and college age students with an international service learning and leadership experience in the community.
Participants develop and implement leadership activities and public health initiatives to educate and prevent a variety of illnesses such as HIV / AIDS, Malaria, and Cholera. Through a variety of instructional lessons in the classroom, “round table” group discussions with Ghanaian youth and peers, along with sport and games activities, participants work directly and in unison with youth in the community to accomplish these objectives.

Participants receive an opportunity to provide service in a developing nation, and a learning experience in a foreign country and culture. Safe Haven has been provided land and support (labor) in constructing a volunteer house and community center in Dominase to operate its programs year round. Construction is slated to begin summer of 2011.
